Kootenai River Falls in NW Montana - Great Trout Fishing and Home to White Sturgeon

Kootenai River - Located in North West Montana - Trout Fishing & Home to White Sturgeon

Update - Spring Fishing Season Opens this Saturday - May 19th, 2012

The Rainbows are spawning naturally in most Montana rivers and lakes this time of year.  Some of the best fishing is being found currently on open waterways such as the Gates of the Mountains (Holter Lake) in Helena and also Hauser Lake.  Both of which are reservoirs along the Missouri River.  We have been doing extremely well with Rapala CDR's (sinking) in the Hot Mustard and Rainbow patterns.

Of course the old tried and true method using a Wedding Band tipped with corn or night crawlers trolled slowly near spawning beds can be the most productive presentations out there. Variations include using a trout dodger or some kind of flasher as well as about 3/4 ounce trolling weights to get down around 15 feet.
